About 1 The Maltings

1 The Maltings is situated on the banks of Budle Bay in the hamlet of Waren Mill, just two miles north of the picturesque village of Bamburgh, and approximately 3 miles east from the A1, within easy travelling distance from Newcastle and Edinburgh.

Being a haven for birdwatchers, this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is home to thousands of sea and land birds.

Steeped in history, the Northumberland coast is renowned for its miles of sandy beaches, stunning views and dramatic castles, probably the most famous being Bamburgh Castle which was recently voted one of Britain's favourite views. The small and largely unspoilt village of Bamburgh is dominated by the Castle which sits atop a rocky outcrop, towering over the village green, and behind which lie sand dunes and miles of sandy beach with views across to the Farne Islands and Lindisfarne to the north. In the village, you will find a butcher, two delicatessen (one of which stocks fresh fruit and vegetables), tea rooms, gift shops and several restaurants and pubs. There are supermarkets and other independent shops at Seahouses and Belford.

Bamburgh Golf Course, a links course and possibly the most beautifully situated in England, with magnificent views of Bamburgh Castle, the Farne Islands, Holy Island and the Cheviots, provides a challenge for all keen golfers.

Travel inland and you will find miles and miles of wide open landscapes, the Cheviot Hills and Northumberland National Park. Enjoy everything the North East of England has to offer.
